The Undergraduate Research Fellowship Grant permits a four year Liberal
Arts College to send 6 students and one faculty member
to Bangladesh for three weeks. The grant is awarded
through an open competition.
Schools will submit a project proposal
not to exceed 10 double space pages. Each proposal must include a substantive
description of the intended fieldwork project. In addition, proposals should outline the institution's capability
for international programs, describe the process for selecting students, detail the experience
of the accompanying faculty member, and clearly indicate how students will be prepared to participate in the program. Student participants will be expected to have taken at least 2 semester-long courses on Bangladesh
history, culture, society, politics or development prior to going to Bangladesh. All students and faculty must be U.S. citizens.
AIBS will provide the most direct round trip air fare from the airport nearest to the college to Dhaka. All expenses
in Bangladesh will be covered. Each student and faculty participant is required to sign a release and waiver of liability form (required by all American overseas research centers) prior to departure.
Proposals must be submitted by August 1 for travel in
summer or fall of the following year. Special arrangements can sometimes be made
for earlier or later travel.
