The American Institute of Bangladesh Studies is a consortium of U.S. universities and colleges involved in research on Bangladesh. Our mission is to improve the scholarly understanding of Bangladesh culture and society in the United States and to promote educational exchange between the U.S. and Bangladesh. By sending undergraduate and graduate students as well as senior scholars to Bangladesh, we also promote a better understanding of America in Bangladesh.
 
 
The 1st Conference on Indigenous People and Bangladesh Environment (Adibashi Jonogoshti o Bangladesher Poribesh) will be held on 17-18 December, 2007 in Dhaka.

The conference is being jointly organized by Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) and the Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN). Deadline for submitting abstracts of proposed presentations is 20 September. See brochure for details.
 

Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced Bangla (including dialects)

Fall:  2 September - 6 December 2007
Spring: 6 January - 3 April 2008

Starting in September, 2007, AIBS will offer intensive beginning, intermediate, and advanced instruction in Bangla language during the academic year at its facilities in Dhaka on the campus of Independent University, Bangladesh.  Application deadline for the Spring Term is December 3, 2007.
