AIBS Fellowships
 
 
AIBS Travel Grant

AIBS can provide funding for conference travel for the presentation of papers or organization of panels that include topics relevant to Bangladesh studies at scholarly conferences. We can provide up to $600 for travel to conferences within the United States, and up to $1500 for international travel.

Submit the documents as outlined below. Applications are accepted at any time and will be reviewed by the AIBS Executive Committee. You will be notified of the status of your application once a decision has been reached.

  1. The completed application form
  2. Conference travel proposal (not to exceed three pages)
  3. E-mail or other PDF evidence of your paper having been accepted
  4. Budget (include all travel costs, hotel costs, and conference registration)
  5. Current C.V.
  6. (For students) one letter of support from a faculty mentor, to be sent separately

AIBS Fellowship Awarded to
Samantha Christiansen

This project examines student protest activity in East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh) in the period of 1956-1971. Using archival evidence and interviews, the project analyzes the students within the context of the global youth phenomenon of student revolt the 1960s to explore ways in which students crafted an international subjectivity as well as an emergent nationalist identification.

  The AIBS supports three types of Fellowship: Senior, Junior, and Pre-Dissertation. All are intended for research in Bangladesh for a minimum of four months and a maximum of ten to twelve months.
